Chris 'N Cosey And Friends - "Sweet Surprise" 12"

Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti, aka Chris & Cosey, emerged in the early 1970's in England with performance art troupe Coum Transmissions, and gained international fame with the influential performance/noise/electronic/'Industrial' group Throbbing Gristle. When that group imploded in the early 1980's, the duo went on to produce some of the most influential, elegant, and sensual electronic music around. You can learn more from my 1999 interview with the couple here.

Godsend Interview with Chris & Cosey

They are still active today (now using the umbrella name Carter Tutti, rather than Chris & Cosey), as well as working alongside old mates Genesis P-Orridge (Psychic TV) and Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson (Coil, SoiSong) in the reformed Throbbing Gristle.

It's a shame that most of Chris & Cosey's releases are long out of print, and some fetch outlandish collector's prices. This vinyl 12", called 'Sweet Surprise', was released in 1985 through Rough Trade UK, features a pair of songs the duo wrote and recorded with friends Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of Eurythmics.
